Clinical Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple

Without question, this is one of the best books ever written for medical students or anyone else struggling through neurosciences. It miraculously removes the tedious details of this important topic and instead focuses on clinically relevant information in an effort to maximize understanding and minimize memorization. Despite the somewhat simplistic treatment of an otherwise complicated topic, the reader will finish this book with a complete working understanding of neuroanatomy, including a detailed and intimate knowledge of the spinal cord and brainstem. Really, there is no better book... and as a physician now I have returned to read it several more times since graduating from med school. If you don't have it... get it!

Case Files Anatomy 2e

This book contains 49 real-life clinical cases designed to both help teach gross anatomy and help medical students prepare for USMLE Step 1. Each clinical case presents a patient with relevant history and symptoms, and uses the case (typically an injury or pathology) as an educational tool to teach the anatomy related to that case. It also provides USMLE Step 1 type multiple choice questions with answers. Each case ends with and key "Anatomical Pearls" and reference for further explanations if needed. The discussion in almost all cases includes tables and illustrations to clarify the anatomical issues.

Anatomy Recall

University of Michigan Medical School) for Doody's Medical Review, David W. Brzezinski, MD -- This question-and-answer formatted anatomy book is aimed at professional students seeking to understand the basics of anatomy without succumbing to the sheer volume of material that is typical of most medical gross anatomy texts...Speaking as a former medical student and as a current gross anatomy instructor, this book is much needed. It, indeed, makes anatomy accessible to the professional student, and it does so in a memorable manner...Since most of the authors have experienced medical school first-hand, their background and understanding are second to none. The combination of basic science and clinical pearls is well balanced, accurate, and engaging. (University of Michigan Medical School) for Doody's Medical Review, David W. Brzezinski, MD -- Perhaps the greatest strength of the book is its complete yet concise style. It manages to accurately cover a very broad and complex field of study while limiting its scope to the most important and clinically relevant aspects. Of particular value are the clinical pearls which are inserted at relevant points in the text. Such pearls not only serve to teach students clinical concepts, they also reinforce the basic anatomy in a memorable way. The valuable embryology section is located toward the end of the book... I found the book amazingly manageable for students and of appropriate depth. It is extremely practical for professional students and it can be used all the way through their residency (and beyond). I highly recommend it for any professional student, and only wish that I had such a valuable resource when I was a medical student. It should find its way into many a white coat pocket!

NMS Review for USMLE Step 1

Because medical education and testing paradigms continue to evolve in the United States, we are
especially pleased to present the seventh edition of the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Review for USMLE
Step 1. This edition incorporates a deep appreciation for the rapid advances in our understanding of the
molecular basis of disease, stimulated in part by the completion of the Human Genome Project, the
enormous increase in the data that can be presented to medical students, and a consensus that an
integrated presentation of information during the first 2 years of medical school is desirable.
With the advent of the USMLE Step 1 that initially de-emphasized the traditional basic science
disciplines and stressed the integrated approach, we believe it is especially important to provide students
with a series of questions that accurately reflects this new format and prepares students for the test.
Since the first edition, the Review for USMLE Step 1 has undergone several iterations, reflecting the
thoughtful comments of both students and faculty. In this new edition, we have expunged questions
using the matching format and the “except” format, and we have continued to increase the patientbased
questions that we hope will test your ability to integrate key basic science concepts with relevant
clinical problems.
This book provides question types that are now used on the USMLE and will continue to be used
for the new computer-based format. We appreciate all of the complimentary and thoughtful comments
that readers have provided to help improve the book. We hope you will also find this book useful, and
we and the publisher welcome any comments you may have.

medEssentials: High-Yield USMLE Step 1 Review (Kaplan Medessenitals for the USMLE Step 1)

The book was wonderful for a quick Anatomy, Embryo, Histo, Phys and Biochem review. Basically it's good for everything but Path. And lets face it - most of us use Goljan Rapid Review for that. If you have used or like the Kaplan lecture series books, this will work for you. Its a high yield review of lecture material in Kaplan mainly in chart format. Its main advantage over FA is the use of pictures that help to illustrate the anatomy and embryology. I love it and have pushed FA2008 aside in favor of this book. In quick review - you WILL need a different Path review book, but this is more detailed and better as a high yield review of general info!
